A Glendale man, who is attacked by a friend with an ax, is saved by his roommates.

Glendale police report that on April 8 they were called to an apartment complex near 59th and Glendale avenues for an assault.

Police learned that a man went to his friend’s apartment and got into an argument. The friend, 39-year-old David Lee Jarrel, reportedly grabbed, what victims described as a 'fireman's ax' and swung it at the victim striking him in the arm with the ax handle.

Police say Jarrel also hit the victim in the head with the ax handle. The victim was able to run out of the apartment and contact his roommates who also live in the same complex.

The roommates came running, and when they got there, they saw Jarrel standing over the victim holding the ax over his head. The victim was able to get up and run to his roommates, who ran with him as Jarrel chased all of them with the ax. After making it to their apartment, Jarrel left the area.

The victims spotted him the next night returning to the apartment complex and called the police. Officers found him hiding in the bathroom of an apartment.

Jarrel has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault.
