Woman in church alerts police to Phoenix home burglary

A Phoenix woman was at church when she alerted police that a burglar was in her home. 

Phoenix police report that on Sunday, at about 5 p.m. a woman was at church when she saw a suspect in her bedroom, through a live security camera feed. 

She called police saying someone was in her family's home. 

Police went to the home near 32nd Street and Thomas Road and reportedly saw and heard someone in the house. 

They allegedly heard a window break and saw a suspect, later identified as 28-year-old David Josias Sasam Mendoza, coming out of the window. 

Mendoza ran through the backyard and was caught by police.

Mendoza suffered a significant cut on his leg from the broken glass and was taken to the hospital. 

Police say he was found with clothing belonging to the victim. 

Mendoza has been charged with burglary.
