A Phoenix tire shop owner has been arrested for trading services and cash for food stamp cards.

Phoenix police report that they conducted a three-month undercover investigation that revealed the owner of Los Campos Tire shop, 52-year-old Francisco Ochoa Muniz, was purchasing food stamp cards and in some cases accepting them as payment for tires and other services.

The tire shop is located near 28th and Van Buren streets.

Police say their undercover officer was able to sell a card with over $800 of benefits on it to Muniz for $400 in cash.

Police arrested Muniz on May 3. He later allegedly admitted to police that he purchased 'Electronic Benefit Cards' from multiple individuals and also allowed customers to buy tires and services with food stamp benefits.

Muniz has been charged with fraudulent schemes.
