PHOENIX — A Phoenix pastor detained an alleged car theft suspect who was towing a vehicle from his church.
Phoenix police report that on May 25 they responded to the 35th Avenue Baptist Church near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road for a reported vehicle theft.
The church pastor reportedly told police that they had problems with people camping on church property, so he asked nearby neighbors to contact police if anything looked suspicious.
That afternoon a neighbor called him saying someone was hooking up a flatbed truck to tow away.
The pastor rushed over and allegedly found Jon Allen Warren, age 52, towing his truck away. The pastor used his vehicle to block Warren from leaving and detained him for the police.
Warren has been charged with attempted vehicle theft.
