Police found and arrested a man involved in a deadly street-racing collision with a pedestrian.

Phoenix Police report that on May 7 around 1:30 a.m., two vehicles were street racing on Indian School Road near 48th Avenue when one car collided with a man crossing the road.

Ruben David Mendoza was killed in the collision. Police say one of the vehicles stopped while another, a blue Subaru, left the scene.

Police say the driver of the Subaru, later identified as 20-year-old Abram Pureco Murrillo, was overheard talking to people about the crash.

On May 15 police came to his home near 55th Avenue and Indian School Road, and reportedly found the car being repaired. Police report damaged car parts located throughout the home matched those left at the collision scene.

When police questioned Murrillo, he allegedly admitted to knowing he had struck the victim and blamed him for being in the roadway.

Murrillo has been charged with leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
