A Phoenix husband and wife have been convicted and sentenced after a video was found showing the wife having sexual relations with a dog.

Last November, police arrested 44-year-old Melessa Ann Martinez and her husband 39-year-old Roy Lee Johnston at their home near 24th Street and Thomas Road.

A family member contacted police after finding a cell phone video, which shows Martinez having sexual relations with a dog.

The black and white dog named "Buddy" belonged to a friend. Court paperwork shows that someone in the room verbally praised "Buddy" during the act.

Johnston admitted to video recording the event, saying they got the idea from news reports of other people getting in trouble for similar activities.

The couple both pleaded guilty to bestiality and were given two years probation.

Johnston currently has a warrant for his arrest after violating his probation by possessing illegal drugs and hasn't checked in with his probation officer since September 13.
