GOODYEAR, AZ — The Goodyear Police Department made an arrest in a fatal shooting at a neighborhood park in May 2017.

Police say a man, identified as 21-year-old David Michael Amado, was found shot and killed at a park near Estrella and Lower Buckeye parkways on May 29, 2017.

Neighbors told police they heard shots and possible suspects fleeing the area.

Police say Amado was killed with a 9 mm handgun that landscapers later found near the scene.

Police reportedly found $600 in cash and two cell phones after searching Amado's car. On one of the phones, investigators found “numerous text messages related to the sale of marijuana.”

Phone records reportedly identified Jeffrey Takeynon Taylor, age 20, as a possible suspect.

Police say other witnesses later came forward also identifying Taylor as the person who shot Amado.

Taylor had fled to Tennessee, however, on February 24, police discovered that Taylor was back in Goodyear. He was arrested the following day.

Taylor is being held on a $1,000,000 cash bond for armed robbery and first-degree murder.
