GLENDALE — Glendale police have arrested a 24-year-old man for his alleged involvement in the death of an 18-month old girl.
According to Glendale police, officers responded to a residence near 61st and Northern Avenues for reports of an injured child on September 4 , 2016.
When police arrived, they found the child unresponsive. She was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators questioned Austin Parker, who was the only person home with the toddler at the time of the incident.
In subsequent interviews, Parker allegedly admitted to being frustrated with the child and "squeezing her while yelling as well as accidentally elbowing the child's abdomen."
"The Medical Examiners Office conducted their investigation and were able to identify multiple injuries sustained by the child to include trauma that matched events that Austin had provided during his interview," Glendale PD wrote.
Parker was placed under arrest and booked on charges of homicide and sexual misconduct with a minor.
