PHOENIX — A DUI suspect with four children in her car was allegedly seen pouring alcohol out of a beer cans after a crash.
Phoenix police report that on September 3 a car crashed into a tree near 83 Avenue and Thomas Road. When firefighters arrived, they allegedly saw Maria Sonia Colmenero, 37, "pouring alcohol out of beer cans."
Police say Colmenero had her three children, all under 15 years old, in the car with her at the time, along with her 15-year-old niece.
Court records show that Colmenero drove over "multiple curbs and sidewalks" and "drove into oncoming traffic before crashing into a tree."
Colmenero has been charged with aggravated DUI.
