A California college student and a friend allegedly used someone else's identification in an attempt to illegally purchase firearms in Arizona and return to California.

Court records show the incident happened December 4, at the Arizona State Fair Grounds.

Police report that the two went to the gun show the day before and tried to buy guns but were turned away "because they were California residents." Police say the next day 30-year-old Derek Bradshaw and 31-year-old Stephanie Lynn Buck returned to the gun show after finding a stranger's ID in their hotel room.

Police say they attempted to use that identification to falsify ATF forms to purchase the guns.

Bradshaw is on probation for crimes in California and Buck reported that she is a student at John F. Kennedy University. Police say both were wearing body armor at the time they tried to purchase the guns and admitted to using heroin before going to the gun show.

They have been charged with various crimes including ID theft, forgery, and misconduct involving body armor.
