PD: 8 stores 'targeted' for theft in Maricopa County

CHANDLER, AZ - A man has been arrested for stealing from eight Maricopa County Target stores since November.

Chandler Police report that on May 1, Anthony Leroy Sawyer, age 28, was arrested near 7th Street and Beardsley Road, for stealing from eight Target stores in six cities.

Sawyer allegedly stole electronics, game system equipment and video games worth nearly $8,200.

The stores he targeted were in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert and Fountain Hills.

Police say Sawyer is seen on surveillance video stealing the equipment from the store.

Upon his arrest, Sawyer reportedly told police that he would sell or trade the items for drugs.

Sawyer was on felony release, awaiting trial for similar thefts against Target last year.

He is being held without bond on eight counts of retail theft.
