MESA, AZ — An Ahwatukee man is accused of stealing guns and drones from businesses in Tempe and Mesa.

Mesa police report that on March 19 officers arrested Jordan John Watkins, 27, after serving a search warrant at his Ahwatukee home.

Inside the home, investigators say they found seven of the eight guns Watkins allegedly stole from the True Shot Gun Club in Tempe, in addition to the backpack, shoes, belt, sweater, facemask, truck and sledgehammer seen in the gun shop's surveillance video.

After his arrest, Watkins reportedly admitted to the gun theft, saying he was trading the weapons for money and drugs, according to court paperwork.

He also allegedly admitted to stealing several drones and RC cars from Viper Hobbies, a Mesa hobby store. He told police that he used the same sledgehammer to break the glass at the hobby store.

Police say the stolen items were also found at his home.

Watkins has been charged with burglary and trafficking in stolen property.
