TONOPAH, AZ — A man wanted in connection to a homicide in New Mexico was shot and killed by FBI agents Friday.

The FBI says they attempted to execute a federal arrest warrant near 313th and Southern avenues in Tonopah for 60-year-old Leonard Kieren around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

As members of the Violent Crimes Task Force attempted to make the arrest, the FBI says Kieren shot at the officers and agents, who then returned fire.

Kieren was pronounced deceased at the scene of the shooting.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Kieren was wanted for murder in the recent shooting death of 57-year-old Kathleen Lorraine Vigil at her residence in the San Ildefonso Pueblo area in New Mexico.

The FBI says this is an ongoing investigation, and no other details are available at this time.
