PHOENIX — Jason Lindsey is sentenced today for first-degree murder in the drive-by shooting death of 16-year-old Niani Rayshawn Allen in 2015.

Judge Michael Herrod sentenced Lindsey, now 22-years-old, to life in prison.

This past November Lindsey was convicted of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and drive-by shooting.

Lindsey was arrested at his mother's apartment after running from police and dropping a 9MM handgun.

Lindsey was in an SUV that pulled up next to a car with four people inside near Sierra Linda High School at 67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

He was given a handgun and fired several shots into the car, one of which struck and killed Niani Rayshawn Allen.

Niani was a student at Cesar Chaves High school, having recently moved here from California.
