Man dead, another in custody after New Year's Eve shooting in west Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting that left one man dead early New Year's Eve morning near 99th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

Phoenix police say when they arrived at the scene they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The fire department took the man to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

On Thursday, Phoenix police announced an arrest in the shooting.

A 40-year-old man is in custody and facing a 2nd degree murder charge in connection to the shooting.
