AVONDALE, AZ — Police have arrested a man for molesting a child at Donnie Hale Park last week.

On April 25, Avondale police arrested 31-year-old Juan Carlos Granados at his home near 107th Avenue and Buckeye Road, which is 250 yards from the park.

About 2:30 pm on April 17, authorities say Granados asked a 15-year-old boy, who was walking home from school, for directions to the park restroom. He then allegedly followed the boy into the bathroom and molested him.

The victim saw Granados was still in the park near other children. After consulting with a friend, the victim contacted the police and helped them create a suspect sketch which was released to the public.

A resident came to Avondale police telling them that an acquaintance of his confessed to “having sex with a kid at the park.”

The man matched the description released by police.

Upon his arrest, Granados allegedly admitted to his actions, according to court paperwork.

He has now been charged with three counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
