A man who was on probation for having sex with a minor was arrested again for the same offense.
Court records show that on June 25, police arrested a man for having sex with a minor. The man was wearing an electronic monitoring device due to his probation on a prior sex conviction.
Mesa police say they were tipped off when someone called them because they saw a Facebook photo of a man, who they knew was a convicted sex offender, with a underage girl at a hotel.
Police made contact with 33-year-old Michael Ray Preston and the girl at a hotel in Peoria. The 17-year-old girl allegedly told police that they met on Facebook several months ago. Preston paid for a $100 taxi ride for the both of them from Mesa to Peoria.
She reportedly described to police their sexual encounters at the hotel. She also said Preston told her to hide when police arrived.
Preston was wearing an ankle monitoring device, since he was on probation for a 2016 conviction of 14 counts of sexual contact with a minor. That victim was 16 years old. Preston also met her on Facebook and developed a two year relationship with the teen before having sex with her.
Preston has been charged with four counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
