PHOENIX — Valleywise Health is implementing new restrictions for visitors as coronavirus becomes an increasing concern around the holiday season.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 23, Valleywise Health Medical Center will reinstate visitor restrictions to protect patients and staff from further spread.

They are allowing:

  • One healthy parent/guardian per pediatric/NICU patient
  • One healthy support person per laboring/postpartum mother
  • End of life situations to be handled on a case by case basis
  • One healthy support person/caregiver for vulnerable patients who may have but not limited to the list below: Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, or related complex disabilities with cognitive impairments

Valleywise Health is also asking community members to limit gatherings for the holiday, including people just in your household and limiting them to 10 or fewer people. They suggest hosting meals outside, wearing masks, social distancing and washing hands.

Mayo Clinic and the Phoenix VA hospital have also implemented new restrictions and changes to help curb the spread of the virus.
