MESA, AZ — A Wisconsin college says it will open a second location in Arizona dedicated to health care in 2022.

The expansion will bring Averno College’s nursing program to Mesa, where the Milwaukee Catholic school will start off by offering its 18-month direct-entry master of science in nursing, or DEMSN, program.

The college also said it has already secured space in Mesa at 1201 S. Alma School Road, at the southeast corner of Southern Avenue and Alma School Road. The school will occupy one floor at that location, which will provide 13,000 square feet and include a state-of-the-art clinical simulation lab similar to the one on its Milwaukee campus.

The school said the DEMSN program, designed as a path for students who already have non-nursing bachelor’s degrees to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, has been highly successful since it launched in January 2020. The program will be offered in partnership with Mesa-based educational technology company Synergis Education.
