TUCSON, AZ — For years, University of Arizona has been known as UA, or U of A.

But a quick Google search of UA brings up Under Armour and United Airlines before the University of Arizona name pops up.

In an effort to help the communications and marketing team at the Tucson-based public university with search engine optimization efforts, the university is changing how it refers to itself in headlines and on second reference in news articles — to UArizona.

Search engine optimization is a big deal for all organizations — whether they're huge corporations, universities or even nonprofits. Companies pay a lot of money to ensure their names rise to the top when searched online.
