PHOENIX — Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) plans to furlough more than 40 employees in the Valley come January, according to a filing the company submitted with the state.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice (or WARN) on Nov. 6 indicating that 44 workers in Phoenix could be affected as part of mass furloughs the company had already announced amid the hits the airline industry has sustained as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Southwest is the second larges airline operating out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport based on passenger numbers.
