At least 40 new restaurants opened throughout metro Phoenix during January, according to company announcements, Phoenix Business Journal research and other media reports.
Among the new eateries in town are Nobu, a high-end Japanese restaurant run by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and actor Robert De Niro is his business partner.
It opened at the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall near the new luxury wing.
Also in January, Portland-based Bamboo Sushi opened its first Phoenix location.
