Phoenix Sky Harbor passenger numbers nearly double from May to June

While the commercial aviation industry is far from recovered, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport passenger numbers increased dramatically from May to June.

In June, a total of 1,102,143 passengers flew into or out of the region’s primary airport, according to a report released Wednesday from the Phoenix Aviation Department. That is up 88.6% compared to the month before.

June’s passenger numbers were still 71.2% lower than where they were in June 2019. But as Arizona and other states eased up on restrictions more people were flying into or out of Phoenix.

At a time when all major airlines are seeing passenger numbers down dramatically, Sky Harbor’s top carriers have shuffled positions.
