While the commercial aviation industry is far from recovered, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport passenger numbers increased dramatically from May to June.
In June, a total of 1,102,143 passengers flew into or out of the region’s primary airport, according to a report released Wednesday from the Phoenix Aviation Department. That is up 88.6% compared to the month before.
June’s passenger numbers were still 71.2% lower than where they were in June 2019. But as Arizona and other states eased up on restrictions more people were flying into or out of Phoenix.
At a time when all major airlines are seeing passenger numbers down dramatically, Sky Harbor’s top carriers have shuffled positions.
