PHOENIX — Consumers are more satisfied with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport than ever, as the airport has bumped up its ranking on the J.D. Power 2019 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, which was published this week.

The region’s primary airport ranked seventh among the country’s “mega airports,” with a score of 770 out of 1,000 possible points. Mega airports are defined by those serving at least 33 million customers a year.

The Costa Mesa, California-based marketing and consumer research company based its rankings on the opinions of more than 32,000 U.S. and Canadian air travelers surveyed between October 2018 and September 2019.

They were asked to evaluate airport quality in six areas: terminal facilities; accessibility; baggage claim; security check; check-in; and food, beverage and retail options.
