Next to the tourism sector, the rock 'n' roll business has been hard hit by the spread of the coronavirus, with everything from global tours by rock music titans to shows by cover bands in local dive bars being canceled around the country.

One Arizona-based progressive rock band is trying out its own version of coronavirus business pivot and will play a gig at a drive-in movie theater, so fans can listen from the comfort of their vehicles while maintaining some social distancing.

The band, Spafford, will perform in Mesa on May 24 at Digital Drive-In AZ, a pop-up drive-in movie theater set up on North Alma School Road by area entertainers in the wake of the pandemic, as the venue tests out a live music event.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. May 15.
