JetBlue Airways Corp. said it will use machines that use ultraviolet light to clean some of its airplanes.

The New York City-based airline said it will use a UV cabin system made by Honeywell International Inc. as part of a 90-day pilot program.

Honeywell saidthe system, "when properly applied, reduces certain viruses and bacteria on airplane cabin surfaces."

One of its machines can clean an airplane's cabin in about 10 minutes. The machine is about the size of a beverage cart and has arms that sweep over the tops of seats to apply the ultraviolet light.
