Valley movie theater chain Harkins Theatres has started construction on a new headquarters that will also include mixed-use space for a variety of retail tenants.
Construction has already started on the $32 million project, which is located on 13 acres on McDonald Drive near the Loop 101 in Scottsdale.
The design of the building is meant to pay homage to Harkins history, including design elements such as the iconic mushroom structures reclaimed from the original Harkins Camelview 5.
Though it will have a Scottsdale address, Harkins is building the project on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land.
