Sauce Pizza & Wine, a pioneer of the fast-casual restaurant sector, is expanding its Valley footprint with its first location in Tempe near Arizona State University.

The Italian-themed concept, which was founded by restaurateur Sam Fox in 2003 and sold to RA Sushi founder Scott Kilpatrick in 2015, will be taking more than a 2,960-square-foot space on the ground floor of the Union Tempe development at 705 S. Myrtle Ave.

Being so close to the ASU campus, as well as the growing number of businesses and hotels in that area, was a plus for the company, said Kilpatrck, Sauce’s CEO.

“Just a short walk from most buildings on Arizona State’s campus, our new location will provide a fast and easy, yet quality, dining option to students, neighboring businesses, residents, and area visitors,” Kilpatrick said in a statement.
