A Chinese national faces a stiff federal prison sentence for his role in conspiring to export military- and space-grade technology through Arizona to the People's Republic of China.

U.S. District Judge Diane Humetewa sentenced Tao Li, a 39-year-old Chinese national, to 40 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release in a decision handed down in Arizona on Oct. 16, according to federal authorities.

Li previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to export the equipment to China in violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

According to court papers, between December 2016 and January 2018, Li worked with other individuals in China to purchase radiation-hardened power amplifiers and supervisory circuits to illegally export them.
