The city of Chandler is seeking proposals from developers to buy a vacant, city-owned building in downtown to redevelop into much needed retail and restaurant space.

“Retail and restaurant vacancies are almost non-existent at less than 3%,” according to the city's request for proposals, which was released Dec. 1. “At this low rate, it is incredibly difficult to find space for new tenants who prefer to locate in downtown Chandler.”

The site, at 51 E. Boston St., totals 3,000 square feet, with 2,000 square feet of interior space and an outdoor patio. The primary uses of the space should be entertainment, retail or restaurant uses, and additional uses may be considered based on merit and feasibility, but office uses are not permitted on the first floor, according to the request. The building is between SoHo63 and Inchin’s Bamboo Garden.

“Over the last 15 years, downtown Chandler has become a destination driver for the city of Chandler,” according to the city-issued request. “The historic buildings have been renovated and modernized and are now home to a collection of unique restaurants, retail and office users.”
