The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday unveiled a new initiative aimed at addressing racial inequality in the economy, with a Valley business leader asked to join the effort.

Glenn Hamer, the president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was named a member of the initiative’s national steering committee.

Hamer joins five other business leaders from across the nation hoping to reverse the negative impacts that disadvantaged communities face in the workforce and broader economy.

This announcement comes as protests against racial injustice continue to highlight disparities for people of color in America.
