PHOENIX — American Airlines (Nasdaq: AAL), which has increased its service to Latin America, is adding another nonstop flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Mexico.

Starting Dec. 18, American Airlines will add a second daily flight from Phoenix to Hermosillo, Mexico, which is the capital and largest city in the state of Sonora.

The flight will be operated by one of American’s regional partners, St. George, Utah-based SkyWest Airlines. The flight will be conducted on one of SkyWest’s Bombardier CRJ-700 jets with 70 seats.

“The addition of a second, nonstop service between Phoenix and Hermosillo was the result of the close partnership the city of Phoenix has with our trade offices in Hermosillo,” Phoenix Councilwoman Laura Pastor, said in a statement. ”This new flight speaks volumes about the impact our trade partnerships in Mexico are having. I am proud to see this new flight become a reality.”
