Drunk driver in Florida intentionally runs over man on I-4 after argument, deputies say

TAMPA BAY — A drunk driver intentionally ran over a man on I-4 in the Tampa area following a verbal altercation, deputies say.

It happened at about 7:05 p.m. Thursday.

Alicia Belcher, 38, was traveling EB on I-4 with a passenger when they got into an argument.

Belcher reportedly stopped the vehicle and the victim exited the car and crossed to the far side of the interstate.

According to deputies, Belcher then crossed over all three lanes and intentionally struck the victim with her vehicle and left the scene.

She was located nearby. When deputies got to her, she showed signs of impairment.

Belcher blew a BAC of .219/.210, nearly three times the legal limit.

She was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (Over 0.15), DUI with Serious Bodily Injury, Leaving the Scene of the Crash with Serious Bodily Injury, and Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm and Deadly Weapon.

The victim was taken to Tampa General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
