Three Valley schools and one in Tucson are making the grade according to federal standards.
Jack Barnes Elementary in Queen Creek, Fuller Elementary School in Tempe, Vista Del Sur Traditional School in Laveen and University High School in Tucson were each named 2016 National Blue Ribbon Schools.

Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr. announced 329 schools made the cut based on overall academic excellence or progress in improving achievement gaps among student subgroups.

All of the schools will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Arlington, VA on November 7 and 8.
