PHOENIX- A driver with good timing saved three lives, now Carvana is replacing her wrecked car. In October, the City of Phoenix Police Department released video of a crash at the intersection of 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road. The video shows a Chevy Cruz intercepting a Jeep as it drove through a red light, narrowly missing a family of pedestrians.

Shanon Vivar’s 2015 Chevy Cruz was wrecked by the accident, fortunately no one was seriously injured. Over a million people viewed the viral video including staff from Tempe-based company Carvana, an internet-based car dealer. Now, they’re replacing Vivar’s demolished vehicle with a new 2018 Chevy Cruz.

“When we saw the video footage from the accident, we immediately wanted to help Shannon out.”

Carvana also gifted Vivar a new booster seat for her 3-year-old son who was in the car at the time of the crash, and passes to Disneyland for her family.

In a press conference following the crash on Oct. 24, Vivar, hailed a hero by the City of Phoenix Police Department, shared her thoughts on the incident.

“I don’t really think I’m a hero. I kind of think it was meant to happen.”

Carvana says it was a pleasure meeting Vivar and an honor to get her back in a vehicle.
