Over the summer, the once-standing Walmart store located on the Arizona State University Tempe campus was closed. Since then, students have found themselves in need for an alternative to the store.
The convenience was deemed necessary to petition organizer, Kimberly Bastien, who stated that, “I would like to express the support of opening a small-format Target store on the Arizona State University, Tempe campus because it will benefit ASU students and the surrounding community.”
Some students living on campus or nearby depended on the Walmart to gather supplies for school or household supplies.
The petition on Change.org currently has a goal of 500 signatures and is almost halfway there.
