PHOENIX – As if window-shopping wasn’t dangerous enough, patrons at Desert Ridge can now sip cocktails as they shop.

An Arizona law is going to affect that will allow shoppers to drink while shopping at Desert Ridge Marketplace in North Phoenix.

Arizona House Bill 2281 allows qualified retailers to use an existing restaurant or bar to serve alcohol outside of their establishment. One retailer at Desert Ridge is already taking advantage of the April bill that takes affect on Friday, November 1.

A mobile bar will be set up outside of Copper Blues Live on Fridays from 4 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 12 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Desert Ridge will be having a “Sip and Stroll” event every weekend through the end of the year.

A permanent mobile bar called Copper Catalina is under construction and is expected to open in January.

Desert Ridge is the first shopping center to take advantage of the new bill.
