Broadway's 'Hamilton' coming to ASU Gammage

Posted

Broadway's Hamilton is going on tour and coming to ASU Gammage.

The national tour of the Grammy-nominated musical (we'll find out Monday night if it wins) will be a part of the Tempe theater's 2017-2018 season, which was announced Sunday morning.

For Valley theatergoers, that means you have at least a year to wait. Specific show dates have not been released.

Hamilton, played by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also wrote the show's book, music and lyrics, tells the story of one of America's Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies.

The score blends genres from hip-hop and blues to jazz and rap to R&B and Broadway.

With the show's popularity now--and the fact that tickets are already sold out for its New York performances at the Richard Rodgers Theater through January 2017, according to its website, tickets are likely to go fast when they're released at Tempe's box office.
