SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A tiki bar and restaurant will take over the former Cowboy Ciao spot in Old Town Scottsdale.

The 4,600-square-foot restaurant space is being transformed into the Polynesian-themed "Drunk Munk" and is expected to open at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Stetson Drive in March.

"We are excited to bring something new and different like Drunk Munk to Scottsdale," said Greg Donnally in a statement. He is embarking on the culinary adventure with Andrew Nam and Scott Hane.

"The dishes on the menu will transport you across Asia and up the beaches of Mexico..." he said. Dishes like flaming pu pu platters, sushi rolls, Tomahawk ribeye steak and Asian-inspired small plates. The bar will have tiki-inspired cocktails.

They plan on having a daily happy hour and brunch on the weekends, a news release said. There will be seating for up to 150 people and another 50 on the outdoor patio.

Cowboy Ciao, a Scottsdale staple, closed unexpectedly in October 2018 after 21 years in business.
