PHOENIX — The Stand will not be opening at Biltmore Fashion Park anymore.

Two weeks after announcing plans to open at the shopping center, owner Eva Hofstedt said those plans fell through. The popular burger joint was going to move into the kiosk that was formerly housed by Short Leash Hotdogs near Saks 5th Avenue.

"Sorry we haven't been posting in a while. We were busy trying to get the deal done for the Biltmore Stand. Unfortunately, things didn't work out," a post on the restaurant's Instagram said. "The response to us going there was huge and I think we ruffled some feathers, so the deal didn't end up working out."

In a text message to ABC15, Hofstedt said another business at the plaza "found our concept threatening so they prohibited us from entering the center." She did not name the business. "Very sad as we received such vibrant feedback," she said.

ABC15 reached out to the shopping center's property manager for comment but did not receive a response.

The concept's sole restaurant is at 36th Street and Indian School. It opened in 2013. They have burgers, hand-cut fries, and hand-spun shakes.

In May 2017, a larger version of the restaurant, called The Grand Stand, opened in Scottsdale. That location closed last December.
