PHOENIX — Add Phoenix Fan Fusion to the list of events that have been rescheduled over the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter posted Wednesday to its website and social media accounts, organizers said the annual pop-culture convention had been moved from May 21-24 to September 25-27, going from four days to three days.
"In almost twenty years of operation we have never had to postpone this event, and we hope you know how much we wanted to avoid this decision," the letter said, signed Phoenix Fan Fusion staff. "Considering the current degree of uncertainty, and after consulting with the Phoenix Convention Center and City of Phoenix officials, we feel this is the best option, as the safety and well-being of our attendees and participants is of utmost concern to us."
Out of concern for all and with our sincerest faith in the continued support of our community, we have made the extremely difficult decision to postpone Fan Fusion from May 21-24 to September 25-27, 2020.— Phoenix Fan Fusion (@PhxFanFusion) March 25, 2020

Days before, the convention said it was "considering all options to make the best decision for all involved."
Passes and memberships already purchased would automatically transfer to the new dates, the letter said.
Those unable to make the September convention have two options:
- Transfer them to someone else at no additional cost
- Transfer them to the 2021 convention, which is currently scheduled for May 27-30, 2021
Since the event was shortened by a day, those who purchased passes for Thursday, May 21, can use them on Friday, upgrade them to a pass that is good for Saturday or Sunday, transfer them to a friend, or transfer them for the 2021 convention, according to the letter. They've also set-up a "Frequently Asked Questions" section on the convention's website, https://phoenixfanfusion.com/infofaq.
Organizers said they were still working with their host hotels on next steps.
"We are just beginning to adapt our plans and ask you to bear with us while we iron out some of the details. We are working with agents for our guest line up, as well as panelists, vendors, and entertainment providers to secure them for the September dates and will begin those announcements as soon as possible," the letter said.
"We promise to make ths event as great as we can. By September, we will all be ready for some fun and socialization and we hope that you mark your calendars and join us for Fan Fusion 2020-2.0."
