The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale has closed its upscale Italian restaurant and will replace it with a more relaxed American menu.

Il Terrazzo closed on May 3.

Mowry and Cotton, the restaurant's new name, will have an open dining room and an outdoor patio with community fire pits, according to a news release.

Artist renderings show a space with wood accents and rustic-looking light fixtures, and floor-to-ceiling windows that are said to overlook the pool renovations, which is under construction now.

The kitchen will be led by chef Tandy Peterson who worked at Il Terrazzo, the release said.

Mowry and Cotton's menu is said to feature "regionally sourced and cured American dishes" like roasted pheasant or whole grilled pink snapper, according to the release.

It is expected to open in the fall.

Renovations at the Phoenician began in 2016. The first phase focused on resort's guestrooms. The second phase, which began in May, focuses on the pool and spa, main lobby and lounge and retail area.

The pool will have more deck space, a new waterslide, tree house and adult-only hot tub, according to an online release. The renovations are scheduled to be finished at the end of September.
