CHANDLER, AZ — The Gila River Indian Community has begun construction on a $143 million project to expand Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler, the Tribe announced Monday.

The expansion, which is slated to be completed in fall 2021, will add an 11-story hotel tower with 205 rooms, including two 1,500-square-foot "Platinum Suites," a second-floor bar and lounge, and rooftop dining, a news release said. Plans also include an oasis-style pool and cabanas, two hot tubs, an adults-only pool, casino renovations, and an additional 22,000 square feet in indoor and outdoor meeting space.

On the casino floor, the hotel plans to install new carpeting, colors, light fixtures, and an 80-foot LED screen, the release said.

“This expansion is a major investment in the Gila River Indian Community and symbolic of a new chapter in our history,” said Gila River Hotels & Casinos CEO Kenneth Manuel in a statement. “It reflects our commitment to be a leader in the gaming and hospitality industry through enhanced experiences and amenities, and we look forward to seeing the continued representation of our community’s culture in the expansion project."

Wild Horse Pass opened in 2009 and is located near Interstate 10 and Wild Horse Pass Boulevard.
