Final Four Phoenix: 12 restaurants to try around University of Phoenix Stadium

The Final Four is in town this week! So, what's on the menu?

Considering it's a major sporting event, we're going to take a wild guess that the top eats and drinks will be beer, hot dogs, burgers and slices of pizza!

If you're looking to tap into some of Arizona's food here, we've rounded up a few restaurants near the University of Phoenix Stadium you may want to take a look at. You may be surprised by the variety we do have!

La Piazza Al Forno translates in Italian to "the baked pizza" or more simply as a pizza oven, according to the Glendale Italian eatery. It's owned by Justin Piazza. La Piazza specializes in authentic Italian pizza. The pizzeria was even featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."

Haus Murphy's is a long-standing German restaurant within Historic downtown Glendale. Chef Brett Hoffmann reportedly opened the restaurant twenty years ago. Obviously, the German eatery serves German specialties like five types of schnitzel, gulasch and bratwurst. Haus Murphy was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Guy Fieri stopped by La Santisima's Phoenix location. Since then, the Mexican taco shop has expanded and opened locations in Glendale and Flagstaff. Las Santisima serves tacos, quesas, burros and has a salsa bar.

It's not against the law to have dessert before dinner so go for it! Cerreta Candy Company is a local candy and chocolatier here in Arizona. They serve barks, brittles, chocolate bars, fudge and chocolate-covered pretzels. They also have factory tours, though those need to be booked in advance. Tour info.

La Purisima is a Mexican bakery that specializes in Conchas, Pan Dulce, muffins, cookies, among other baked goods. Again, no one said dessert before dinner is wrong! Or if you're looking for a mid-day snack, this could be the place to visit.

Little Saigon is an intimate, family-owned Vietnamese restaurant in Glendale. It was recommended by more than one of our Valley food bloggers.

If you have any connection to Chicago, you likely know about Giordano's. The Chicago pizzeria expanded into Arizona last year opening a location within Peoria's arts and entertainment district, a short drive from the baseball stadium. Giordano's specializes in Chicago-style deep-dish pizza.

Westgate is the closest restaurant to the University of Phoenix Stadium and features more than 20 restaurants and bars, many of which are national chains. While you may not necessarily get the "local" feel, they have enough options that you're sure to find something you're craving. Because it is Final Four, Westgate will charge for parking which varies between $10 - $20.
