August restaurant openings: 13 new places to try around the Valley
OBON + Sushi + Bar + Ramen - Tucson-based FukuShu Restaurant Concepts expanded to Phoenix with the opening of OBON at the Scottsdale Quarter. The menu features a modernized take on Japanese cuisine with fiery edameme, steamed buns, Ramen bowls and sushi rolls. In 2019, a second OBON will join Bird, another FukuShu concept, at Epicenter at Agritopia in Gilbert.

Twisted Grove Parlor + Bar - Chef Christopher Collins, and his restaurant group, Common Ground Culinary, opened a second location of Twisted Grove off Camelback Road. The restaurant has a bar area, dining room and outdoor patio. It's located in a shopping center at 32nd Street and Camelback, ajacent to The Gelato Spot.

Popbar - The New York-based dessert concept serves more than 40 flavors of frozen ice pops, including gelato, sorbet and yogurt. The pops can be eaten as-is or dipped in chocolate and topped with other treats. Popbar opened its first Arizona location at Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale. Each treat varies between $3.49 - $3.99.

Caverns Grotto and The Grand Canyon Caverns are off Route 66 in northeastern Arizona. The Grotto is a new restaurant experience that lets guests dine 200 feet underground within the cavern.
