Easter 2019: 15 Easter egg hunts (some free) to do around Phoenix

PHOENIX — The Easter Bunny has a busy couple of weeks with Easter egg hunts planned in many cities around the Valley.

Kids can hunt for Easter eggs at the Arizona Museum of Natural History, at the Wildlife World Zoo, or at a local park. Some of the egg hunts are free, while some do require an admission fee.

We found 15 Easter egg hunts around the Valley to check out. Make sure to bring your own basket.

APRIL 12 & 19: DINO EGG HUNT AT ARIZONA MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

After last year's event sold out, the Arizona Museum of Natural History has expanded its "Dino Egg Hunt" to two days, April 12 and 19, in 2019. The event is geared towards kids in preschool and up to 10 years old. Eggs will be hidden throughout the museum. There will also be crafts and Arizona Avian Alliance will have live animal experiences. The event runs 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on both days. The cost is $2 for members and $7 for non-members. APRIL 13: FOUNTAIN HILLS EGGSTRAVAGANZA (FREE)

More than 15,000 candy- and prize-filled eggs will be scattered across the baseball fields at Golden Eagle Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona on Saturday, April 13. The hunts start promptly at 9 a.m. so make sure you're there early. Hunts will be divided into age groups: 0-3 years, 4-7, and seven and younger with siblings. There will also be bounce houses, crafts and games. The event runs from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.

APRIL 13: RJ's EGG HUNT (FREE)

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center's Phoenix South Mountain campus will have three free Easter egg hunts on Saturday, April 13. They are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. (ages four and younger), 11:30 a.m. (ages 5-8), and 12:30 p.m. (ages 9-11). Kids will also be able to jump in bounce houses, go through an inflatable obstacle course, do arts and crafts, and play games.

APRIL 13: EL MIRAGE SPRING FAIRE (FREE)

Kids 11 and under will be able to hunt for Easter eggs at El Mirage's free spring festival on Saturday, April 13 at Gateway Park. There will be six age-specific hunts: 9:45 a.m. (two and younger), 10:15 a.m. (ages 3-5), 10:45 a.m. (ages 6-8), 11:15 a.m. (ages 9-11), 11:45 a.m. (five and younger) and 12:15 p.m. (six and older), though times are approximate and could change, according to El Mirage's events website. There will also be carnival rides, photos with "Hoppy," face-painting, egg coloring and a petting zoo.

APRIL 13: BUCKEYE SPRING CELEBRATION

Buckeye's annual Easter egg hunt will take place on Saturday, April 13, at Sundance Park, 22865 Lower Buckeye Road. Hunts will start at 9:30 a.m. and run every half-hour until noon. They are divided among age groups: 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11+. An Easter egg hunt for children with special needs is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. There will also be bounce houses, a petting zoo, pony rides, carnival games and photos with the Easter Bunny. APRIL 18: TINY TOTS EGG HUNT (FREE_

Kids can collect Easter eggs from different businesses along Main Street in downtown Mesa. There will be an indicator outside the businesses that are participating. The event runs from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18. There will also be kid-friendly vendors, face-painting and photos with the Easter Bunny. It is a free event and takes place between Center and Country Club. More information.

APRIL 20: CABELA'S & BASS PRO SHOPS (FREE)

The stores will each host a free Easter egg hunt for kids, ages 2-10, on Saturday, April 20. Registration starts at 1:30 p.m. and the hunt starts at 2 p.m. and lasts an hour. Kids will be tasked with finding five eggs in exchange for five pieces of candy. Throughout the month, families will be able to take a free photo with the Easter Bunny and get a 4"x6" print. APRIL 20: CHANDLER FAMILY EASTER CELEBRATION (MOSTLY FREE)

Chandler's Easter celebration will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. - noon at the Snedigar Sportsplex, 4500 S. Basha Road, Chandler, AZ 85248. Instead of a traditional egg "hunt," kids nine and younger will be able to hop along the "24 Karrot Trail" in search of the "Golden Karrot." Kids will collect 10 eggs with candy or toys inside. Those who find the "Golden Karrot" will get a special prize. There is no cost to do the egg hunt. Other activities, such as the bounce houses, games, obstacle course and slide, range from $1-$5 per ride. A $9 unlimited wristband can be bought. Photos with the Easter Bunny are $3. There is no entry fee. More information.

APRIL 20: DOLLY SANCHEZ EASTER EGG HUNT (MOSTLY FREE)

More than 1,000 pounds of candy will be handed out at Peoria's yearly Easter festival at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Avenue, Peoria AZ 85382. Egg hunts are scheduled from 8:20 a.m. - 11 a.m. and are divided into age groups: age 1 (8:20 a.m.), age 2 (8:45 a.m.), age 3 (9:10 a.m.), age 4 (9:30 a.m.), age 5 (9:50 a.m.), age 6 (10:10 a.m.), ages 7-8 (10:25 a.m.), ages 9-10 (10:40 a.m.), and a hunt for children with special needs (11 a.m.). There will also be bounce houses, a petting zoo, crafts, pony rides, carnival games and inflatables.

There is no cost to park or get into the festival with a donation of canned goods to benefit St. Mary’s/Westside Food Bank Alliance. Some activities will have a fee. More information.

APRIL 20: SURPRISE SPRING EGGSTRAVAGANZA (FREE)

Kids in Surprise will be able to hunt for 50,000 pounds of candy- and toy-filled eggs at Surprise's annual Easter event. Gates to the Surprise Recreation Campus (Kansas City Royals practice fields) will open at 7:30 a.m. The first egg hunt starts at 8:20 a.m. (two and younger) and runs every half-hour through 10:20 a.m. (all ages). Other age groups will go between those times. There will also be balloon artists, inflatables and clowns. The event is free.

APRIL 20: EASTER EGG STRAVAGANZA AT THE WIGWAM (FREE)

Families in the West Valley can head to The Wigwam for its free Easter event on Saturday, April 20. There will be three egg hunts for kids 12 and younger at 9 a.m. (four and younger), 10 a.m. (5-8) and 11 a.m. (9-12); egg roll races, face painting, bounce houses, an obstacle course and photos with the Easter Bunny. APRIL 20: EASTER EGG-SPERIENCE 2019 AT VERTUCCIO FARMS

The Mesa farm will have three Easter egg hunts for the little ones on Saturday, April 20, as well as train rides, photos with the Easter Bunny, play structures and visits with the farm's animals. Children 1-16 will need a ticket even if they're not participating in an egg hunt. As of this writing, tickets to the egg hunts for kids ages 1-7 were sold out, according to Vertuccio's website. There were still slots available for the hunt for kids 8 and older. Aside from the hunts, there will be play structures, farm animals, train rides and photos with the Easter Bunny. Tickets are $11.

APRIL 20: SCHNEPF FARMS EASTER EGG-CITEMENT

Kids will be able to find eggs, go on rides, frost an Easter-themed cookie, and take photos with the Easter Bunny at Schnepf Farms' Easter event on Saturday, April 20. The farm will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. There will be four age-specific Easter hunts. Admission is $20-$25 for kids, with option to include a hot dog lunch. Admission for parents is $3-$15 with option to buy hot dog lunch and rides pass.

APRIL 20-21: ENCHANTED ISLAND EASTER EGG HUNT (FREE)

Enchanted Island will have two days of free Easter egg hunts for kids, ages 1-10. The first hunt is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and is for children one year old. Hunts will continue every 20 minutes for each age group. You can see the full schedule, here. Eggs will be filled with hard candy, toys and coupons to the amusement park. There will be forty "grand prize" eggs. Make sure to bring your own baskets. Parents should arrive early as children need to be registered before each hunt. The Easter Bunny will be there for photos.

APRIL 20-21: WILDLIFE WORLD ZOO, AQUARIUM AND SAFARI PARK EASTER HUNT

The Wildlife World Zoo will have two Easter egg hunts on April 20 and April 21. One is geared towards those under seven and the other is for all ages. The hunts will be held near the petting zoo and train station in the northeast corner of the zoo. The hunts are included with zoo admission, which is $19-$39.
