SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Donut Bar in Scottsdale has abruptly closed.

In an Instagram post late Wednesday night, Sheley Brien, the franchise owner of the Donut Bar location in Scottsdale, said: "We regretfully announce the closure of Donut Bar Scottsdale on (Wednesday), October 16, 2019. We have enjoyed being part of our hometown community and appreciate how welcoming everyone was to us."

Donut Bar's local PR firm in Phoenix also confirmed the closure to ABC15 on Wednesday evening.

"We fell in love with the brand over 4 years ago and decided this was the next venture we wanted to take in our careers," the post said. "While we have no regrets in our decision, we feel that finding an honest and supportive brand that aligns more with our mission to be successful will drive us to come back with something new and exciting in the future."

The Scottsdale Donut Bar location opened in November 2018 within The Promenade shopping center near Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. and Scottsdale Road.

The San Diego, California-based brand is known for its over-the top, Instagrammable doughnuts, doughnut French toast, and doughnut grilled cheese. The doughnuts were made fresh each day. Once those doughnuts sold out, the store would close.

Sometimes it would reopen for an "encore" in the evenings with a second helping of doughnuts to choose from.

It was also not immediately clear if Donut Bar's corporate office plans to reopen under another franchisee in that space or perhaps plans to move that location somewhere else. According to our sister station, KGUN 9, in Tuscon, Donut Bar does have plans to open a location in Tucson.

"Thank you to our customers and wonderful staff. Your smiles every day was the highlight of this experience," the post ended.
