CHANDLER, AZ — Kids and families will be able to paint with melted wax, design coloring pages and color them, and play games when "The Crayola Experience" opens at Chandler Fashion Center mall starting Thursday.
Crayola announced that the 20,000-square-foot attraction would open at 10 a.m. on May 23, 2019. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9:45 a.m.
The attraction is located near the food court in the former Gap retail space. The mall is near the Loop 101 Price Freeway and Chandler Blvd. in Chandler.
The attraction will have 19 "colorful, hands-on attractions...that only Crayola can create," a news release said. Kids will be able to wrap and print their names on crayons, take selfies, make wax spin-art, and take photos with life-sized crayon mascots, according to a promotional video on the attraction's website.
Spokeswoman Connie Walker says each visit is unique because it's driven by creativity so you can spend a half hour or half a day exploring.
"We think that creativity is an essential skill and it has to be nurtured and it has to be experienced and that's what you do here at Crayola Experience," Walker said.
There will also be a 4,000-square-foot retail store with t-shirts, plush toys and other merchandise. The store will be open to the public.
Admission is $14.99 per person, according to the website. People can save $1 when buying tickets online. Annual Passes are available for $34.99 per person, though they are offering discounted passes for $29.99 both online and at the store. Family passes for three or four people are being sold for $79 and $99, respectively.
The Crayola Experience is in four other markets: Orlando, Florida; Bloomington, Minnesota; Plano, Texas; and Easton, Pennsylvania.
They're also still hiring for some part-time and full-time positions.
