TEMPE, AZ — After a few weeks of construction delays, Churroholic is nearly ready to turn on the fryers and crisp up some churro treats at its second location in the Valley.

The California-based concept announced Tuesday via its Facebook page that its location at Tempe Marketplace would open at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 (that's next week).

It is located near the Barnes & Noble side of the shopping center across from Forever 21.

Churroholic's staple is over-the-top-made-for-Instagram churros.

Customers can order loop churros, served plain, glazed or covered with toppings like nuts, sprinkles, and matcha; churro ice cream sandwiches; a loop churro paired with ice cream; churro bites; even a churro ice cream sundae.

Generally, during a "soft" opening a restaurant's full menu be not yet be available. It is a time to train staff and get them and the kitchen used to taking and making customers' orders.

The Tempe location will have a "soft opening" menu. Most of the full menu will be available. However, the churro ice cream sandwiches are listed as "coming soon." They have six signature churro flavors (chocolate almonds, Matcha pebbles, cookie and cream, chocolate sprinkles, and coconut chocolate), plus original and glazed.

They will have four ice cream flavors: strawberry cheesecake, cookie and cream, chocolate brownie, and vanilla.

Individual churros vary between $3.95 - $4.95. The other treats range between $7.50 - $8.50. They also have milkshakes, a guava berry slushie, and a few coffee drinks.

Last month, Churroholic's first Valley location opened at the Peoria Crossing shopping center near Loop 101 and Northern Avenue in Peoria. The Peoria location features some drinks and appetizers from Hiccups, an Asian-themed restaurant concept from the same owners as Churroholic.

A third location is expected to open later this year near Bell Road and 75th Avenue in Glendale, according to Sky Hoang, the founder of Churroholic and Hiccups. He said the Glendale location will feature Churroholic's and Hiccups' full menus, which will include various Thai and Pho noodle dishes.
