Boo! 24 Halloween events for families around Phoenix

Fall is here and Halloween is on its way!

Soon pumpkin patches, haunted houses and festivals will pop up around the Valley.

We've compiled a list of Halloween-themed festivals, activities and events good for the whole family -- from the little tykes to the teens. Scroll down to check them out.

Golfland Fright Nights (and Spooktacular Mini Golf) (Sept. 30 – Oct. 31)

When summer ends, Golfland Sunsplash gets revamped for Halloween. The golf course has some Halloween features added to it, while The Gauntlet Haunted House is built for those who enjoy a little fright.

Schnepf Farms Pumpkin & Chili Party (Oct. 1-30, Thurs. through Sun.)

Schnepf Farms hosts its annual Pumpkin & Chili Party during the month of October. There will be a petting zoo, marshmallow roasting, bonfires, rides and entertainment shows. That is all included in admission. Extras include train or pony rides and food.

Valley Youth Theatre – Charlotte’s Web, The Musical (Oct. 7-23)

The classic story of friendship between a spider and a piglet hits the Valley Youth Theatre stage.

Barktoberfest (Oct. 8)

It is touted as a "party in the park" for dogs and their human families. There will be an agility course, pet adoptions, a police K9 demonstration, arts and crafts, and food trucks. Admission is free, but organizers are asking for donations to benefit the Friends for Life Animal Rescue.

Brick or Treat at Legoland Discovery Center (weekends in October)

Throughout October Legoland will have Halloween-themed activities, including mask building, Lego pumpkin building, and a costume contest.

Great Arizona Puppet Theater - Little Bunny’s Halloween (Oct. 12-30)

Little Bunny learns from his mom that Halloween doesn't have to be so scary.

Carefree’s Enchanted Pumpkin Garden (Oct. 17-31)

Take a stroll through Carefree's Enchanted Pumpkin Garden and see various pumpkins hand-carved by Arizona sculptor, Ray Villafane, including 400-pound pumpkins. In 2016, the garden is adding two exhibits, a series of scarecrows crafted by Villafane, and Jelly Belly pumpkins.

Queen Creek Trunk or Treat (Oct. 22)

Get your trick-or-treating done early at the Queen Creek Trunk or Treat event. Businesses will decorate their windows and organizations will decorate their trunks with festive themes. Both will also be giving out candy! There will be carnival games, a horse costume contest, the BubbleManiacs Bubble Zone and a Teen Zombie Film Festival.

Scottsdale's Dunkin' for a Pumpkin (Oct. 22)

Scottsdale is hosting a floating pumpkin patch. Don't worry, the pool is heated. After you pick your pumpkin, you'll be able to decorate it!

Mesa Arts Center's annual Dia de los Muertos Festival (Oct. 22-23)

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos at the Mesa Arts Center. There will be live entertainment, food, and arts and crafts for sale.

Dia De Los Muertos Phoenix Festival (Oct. 23)

Put on by the Cultural Coalition, the Dia de Los Muertos Phoenix Festival is a Mexican holiday that celebrates and remembers those who've passed on. There will be masked performances, local artists will showcase their works, and a Candlelight Procession. Food will also be available for purchase.

Howl-O-Ween at Phoenix Zoo (Oct. 28-29)

Halloween is taking over the Phoenix Zoo. There will be over 20 different activities -- some scary and some not -- throughout the zoo. For the daring, there is the urban Legend Lane and Walking Dead Way. If you don't like the scary stuff, the Arizona Avengers will be there for pictures, as well as magic shows, Moon the Mermaid, and Tarot card readings.

Chandler Halloween Spooktacular (Oct. 28)

Bring your trick-or-treat bags to Chandler to collect candy as you play various games and go trunk-or-treating. There will also be a haunted house, a pumpkin cemetery and an inflatable corn maze.

Balloon Spooktacular

Salt River Fields Balloon Spooktacular (Oct. 28-29)

Over 20 hot air balloons will light up Salt River Fields, and its operators will pass out over 4,000 pounds of candy to trick or treaters. There will also be live music, food for purchase, tethered balloon rides and fireworks.

Pumpkin at the Peak

Pumpkins at the Peak (Oct. 28)

This is the 20th anniversary of Pumpkins at the Peak. The River Ranch water park will be turned into a poolside carnival. Kids will be able to play games, get candy, dress up in their costumes and look at glowing jack-o-lanterns.

Dem Bonez Archery 101 (Oct. 29)

This is an introductory class to target-style archery. The class is included in the day's park fee. You have to be at least eight years old to participate and the class is capped at 20. Call 480-655-5554 to register.

Halloween Fright Hike (Oct. 29)

Can you handle a hike in the dark? This is a one-mile, one hour hike in search of creepy crawlies. Feel free to dress up and bring black lights and glow sticks, but no masks and wear closed-toed shoes.

Phoenix Zombie Walk

Phoenix Zombie Walk (Oct. 29)

The Phoenix Zombie Walk was killed and revived in 2016. New this year, it will take place in the Warehouse District in partnership with the Arizona Hemophilia Association. There will be a costume contest as well as an adults-only pub crawl after the event.

Tempe’s 39th annual Family Halloween Carnival (Oct. 29)
